In Japan, part-time employee eligibility requirements for the employee pension scheme maybe expanded from 30 hours per week to 20 hours per week, adding approximately 3.7 million employees. The threshold would be lowered in three stages. It would first be applicable to employees who earn JPY 800,000 or more per year and work in a company with 300 or more employees. In the second stage, it would apply to companies with 100 or more employees, and in the last stage, the income and company size limits would be abolished.
